Sea Point
The promenade at golden hour
A dense, cosmopolitan ribbon between Signal Hill and the Atlantic, stitched together by a promenade where the whole city comes to walk, run, and watch the sun drown.
Sea Point is Cape Town at its most democratic. On the prom at 6pm you'll pass joggers, chess players, families with ice creams, and old men arguing in three languages, all against a horizon that turns molten at dusk.
The food scene punches far above its postcode: kosher delis beside Ethiopian kitchens beside some of the city's best gelato. Swim at the Sea Point Pavilion — an Art Deco lido with lanes of seawater and mountain views.
Stay for the green flash. On clear evenings the crowd on the lawns goes quiet at the exact moment the sun disappears; it's the closest thing the city has to a daily ritual.

Walk south to north
Start at the Pavilion and walk toward Mouille Point with the sun setting behind you — the light on the Twelve Apostles is better than the sunset itself.
