Victorian factories turned studios, some of Africa's best restaurants hiding behind roller doors, and street art on every second gable — Woodstock is Cape Town's workshop.
Woodstock never gentrified politely; it layered. Panel beaters share blocks with ceramic studios, and the Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill still draws the whole city on Saturdays for oysters, craft gin and live vinyl sets.
This is the neighbourhood for eating seriously. Test Kitchen alumni have scattered their own rooms through these streets, and the bread from local bakeries alone justifies the trip up Albert Road.
Go with a local guide for the street art — many of the best murals sit in side streets you wouldn't wander alone, and the stories behind them are the actual point.

Skip Saturday, come Thursday
The Biscuit Mill on Saturday is a crush. Thursday mornings the same traders are prepping, the coffee is better, and the studios upstairs actually have time to talk.
